Tom and Brid O'Brien and their family welcome you to their
Farmhouse Lodge, set in what has been described as "a
location to die for", in a large, beautiful garden, in
the midst of a working farm, right at the foot of one of
Ireland's most stunning landmarks.
The charming stone building is almost 200 years old and
lovingly renovated to the highest of standards. The original
purpose of the building remains something of a mystery.
Nothing quite seems to fit, though, over time, it has been
used for stables, stock and storage and was often loosely
described as a Stable/Coach House.
The Lodge has a perfect unobstructed view of the
Rock of Cashel and is adjacent to the ancient Hoare (or Hore) Abbey.
While the renovations have remained sympathetic to the
original fabric of the building, the Lodge has been designed with
every modern convenience, for a wide range of guests, in mind.
Every detail has been carefully considered, like the spacious entrance lobby with a heavy tile floor where you can take off your wet outdoor clothes,
and the clothes line to dry them in the barn.
The centre of the Lodge is a long stone walled room with
kitchen at one end, dining tables in the middle and
comfortable chairs around a wood burning stove at the other.
In fine weather, through the french doors, is
a terrace with tables and chairs where it is possible to
breakfast while looking out over the gardens to the Rock of
Cashel, perhaps one of the finest views in the country.
